We went to see "Get Smart" at the dollar theatre. That was last week, our family night this past monday involved urgent care and the police. Yeah, it was crazy, I'll tell ya about it sometime.
We went and saw Get Smart this Monday!!! That's quite ironic! And Pete told me some of the details, but I'm not sure we got it all. I hope things get sorted out and that the kid gets in mega trouble. LOTS OF LOVE. Oh, and thanks for the b-day wish. Lucas is so good :0)
It's been a fast flying year and I can't believe its almost November already! We are doing great and enjoying Arizona's beautiful fall weather. The kids are excited for Halloween and we are all looking forward to the Holidays. We love you, our family and friends, you are so special to us. Thank you for yourlove and prayers! We have been blessed this year.
We have a great family! I love being a mom. It's getting better and better the older they get. Sure I occasionally look longingly at someones sweet bundle of newbornness, but really I'm over it and enjoying every second (almost) of raising my kids. I love their unique personalities and I'm so grateful for their love and obedience...ha ha okay, I am grateful for their love and I long for their obedience. They are amazing little people, I am so blessed. It's fun and sometimes maddening to see me and Tom in them. being a parent is awesome and as far as I can tell it only gets better!
Quinoa and Cranberry Cookies
I made up this recipe and it's our favorite!
Recipe
2 sticks butter softened 2 cups sugar (brown white or any combo) 1 tbsp REAL Vanilla 2 eggs Cream together then add: 1 -1/2 cups flour (white, wheat or any combo) 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda Mix and add: 1 cup craisins 1 cup white chocolate chips 1-1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut 2 cups quinoa flakes OR 1-1/2 cups old fashioned Oats Mix well and drop spoonfuls on cookie sheet, bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. YUMMY!
So What is Quinoa?
Quinoa, pronounced KEEN-wa, is a tiny grain grown in the Andes. There are 3 common varieties namely Red, White, and Black. To the Incas, quinoa was called "the mother grain" because it was a major source of protein for them. It actually contains all of the essential amino acids making it a complete protein. Pretty cool, huh? The quinoa used in this recipe is rolled. Just like how oats are made into oatmeal. Usually you can only get it by mail order. The most common variety is the whole white quinoa found in heath food stores. It is good to add to soup, cooks like rice and makes a good pilaf, yummy as a hot breakfast cereal and there are many more uses.
