umm, skipped church for the outdoors again

We went to Motezuma's Castle. It was a nice drive, Cami and Megan rode in the trunk of the Cruizer on pillows and blankets and the boys in the back seat. The kids were actually pleasant. We didn't feel like taking the mini-van today. It rained and hailed on the way up and off and on the sun blazed through the clouds. The desert was in bloom, green and rich with color. It was a good day. It was a beautiful day...

Happy Valentines Day from Arizona...

Happy Birthday Little Sister!

This is my sister, Sarah on her birthday. I made dinner and we had a party at my house. She has such a cute family!

Went on an all day Hike for our 14th Anniversary...

These pictures are in reverse order...this was after we went swimming in the creek.

Indian carving in the rock? What do you think?
This is an excellent AZ hike...

So much variety of scenery....

I love these trails through the trees....

You would not believe how cold this rock was...like a glacier, seriously!

My best hiking partner...

This is a little bridge over the barb wire fence, we were just getting started.

Just to remember where we are.....

Always good to have a picture of the map on your digital camera so you can look at it again if you getl ost out there....

This year, to celebrate 14 years of wedded bliss, we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery of Arizona.

As soon as the kids were all off to school we hopped in the Cruizer and headed to Cave Creek. A little off-roading and we were at the trail head.

It's a popular trail, about 10 miles out and back, though we didn't go that far. The scenery changes from creekside with trees and grassy shade to desert with cactus, mountains and catclaw. Switching back and forth as the trail crosses the creek again and again. The trail is easy to follow and there really is no drastic changes in elevation so it would be alot of fun to do with the kids.

We actually went swimming in the creek in a perfect little swimming hole and then sunbathed on a sunny rock. Where else can you do that in January? Yes, the water was cold. But not much colder than slide rock in July.

We had a little picnic lunch, explored off the trail looking for Indian ruins we read about.

It was a fun day, we can't wait to do it again.
