Indian carving in the rock? What do you think?
I love these trails through the trees....
You would not believe how cold this rock was...like a glacier, seriously!
My best hiking partner...
Just to remember where we are.....
This year, to celebrate 14 years of wedded bliss, we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery of Arizona.
As soon as the kids were all off to school we hopped in the Cruizer and headed to Cave Creek. A little off-roading and we were at the trail head.
It's a popular trail, about 10 miles out and back, though we didn't go that far. The scenery changes from creekside with trees and grassy shade to desert with cactus, mountains and catclaw. Switching back and forth as the trail crosses the creek again and again. The trail is easy to follow and there really is no drastic changes in elevation so it would be alot of fun to do with the kids.
We actually went swimming in the creek in a perfect little swimming hole and then sunbathed on a sunny rock. Where else can you do that in January? Yes, the water was cold. But not much colder than slide rock in July.
We had a little picnic lunch, explored off the trail looking for Indian ruins we read about.
It was a fun day, we can't wait to do it again.
